Are those Consumer reports coffee makers trustable?

The first thing about these consumer reports coffee makers is in, are its vast quantity -there are too many of them. There are probably hundreds different kinds of reports reviewing and evaluating about coffee machines.

Then, there are the thousands of websites all talking about coffee brewers and espresso machines. There are generally two types of consumer reports these coffee makers appears in.

All the reports, evaluations and reviews about coffee makers would fall into this two category

Different views on coffee makers

The "follow me"

If you look through the sites that evaluates and compare coffee makers, you would noticed that there are generally the same. They might have different designs and maybe even slightly different content, but they tout the same thing.

Folks, all things being equal, websites needed money to keep it going, so the site owner need to sell something in order to make their effort worth the while, so they look for sponsor.

If keurig would  to sponor that site -well, keurig would be the best coffee maker. You get the picture. And it so happened that there are a few brands that are generous with their commission, so most of the sites you see are all talking about "how good" these coffee makers are.

Can these sites be trusted? Well, you did look at some commercial then go ahead and make some purchases before, haven't you? Well, these sites functioned basically in the same way.

They do not offer ill advice, but they tend to be biased towards brands that are supporting them.

The "expert"

These experts used to publish their evaluation on coffee magazines and journals but most of them are doing it online now. They still talk about the latest trend, the best and worst coffee makers.

It so happened that they need to make a living out of their reputation and along the way, most of them tend to be sponsor or endorsed by certain coffee brands.

So, similar to the "follow me" websites, most of the experts seems to be talking about the same thing. If a brand is generous with their marketing fund, then almost everyone would be talking about it.

To be fair, at times, the experts would bring out some flaws about the coffee machines, but that is very rare.

Another group of experts that can be trusted are probably the ones that write food column for newspaper, but as time progresses and newspaper are trying to look for more advertisements, they are becoming just like the "other experts" and the "follow me" sites...

Conclusion

I am not trying to sound skeptical, but seriously trust no one. If you are buying a coffee machine for your own usage, why would you want other people inputs and usage to influence you?

Get to know your style and look for a machine that best suit your needs...

Your thoughts about consumer reports?

Well said--trust no one. In fact, for product recommendations, I trust my friends' recommendations. They have no incentive to lie, I can ask them questions, and they care about telling me the truth. Why should I believe an anonymous author or website?

Interesting post, I like what you have to say. It's important to hunt around for the right product, but when the one you get does not live up to your standards it can be frustrating. Sometimes I need a place to get my anger out and tell other people about my issues; to vent. Then I found a site that not only lets me vent, but allows other people to see it and come up with funny paybacks. The responses are so funny! Check it out here.
